PHG Meeting Info

NOTICE: Meetings will be held both in-person and on Zoom until further notice. Zoom links are provided in the PHG Calendar where Zoom participation is available.

PHG meets on the second Thursday of every month during September - June at the Multnomah Art Center.

Morning Meetings 10am - noon, 9:30am social
Evening Meetings 7pm - 9pm, 6:30 social

Meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings generally follow the same agenda:

  1. Call to Order – Meeting started at 7:00 pm 
  2. Roll Call: Linda Edquist, Robin Korybski, Dan Steves, Tim Pirns, Sarah McCully-Posner, Judilee Fitzhugh, Mike Schlieski
  3. Minutes: Last board minutes from February, passing over for now.
  4. Membership Roll Updates
    • Lifetime membership. OK to leave expired; Ladella is checking to see if still around; Chris Rossi was suggested as alternative to checking list
  5. Library Cart Update
    • Robin shared picture of new library cart.
  6. Outreach
    1. Sarah prepared the Baby Wolf for Art in the Pearl
    2. Still needs volunteers for Art in the Pearl and Flock and Fiber
  7. Education
    1. Linda shared that the Theme of the Year is the Noh coat in line with ANWG
    2. Has Noh coat pattern drafted for mannequins, shared a mannequin with a “muslin”, may do presentation in November 
    3. Workshops in September, October, January, and March
    4. Possible meeting presentation on “Garment Factory”, a women owned factory with zero waste
    5. April meeting – Steve Graff from the Maryhill Museum
    6. Linda and Sarah took the mannequins to the state fair, has a few tickets
  8. Fall Sale
    1. Judilee will have the vendor application available in the September newsletter
    2. Space is smaller and will have room for 17 vendors
    3. Set up on Friday with sale starting on Saturday morning
    4. Booth rental is up slightly but no commission
  9. Weftover Sale
    1. Saturday, Oct 22, in the gym
    2. discussed sale times allowing for enough time for set up
    3. Dan will check to see if we can set up on Friday 
    4. Dan may set up meeting before to plan for sale
  10. Meeting space
    1. Maybe look for new space, Sarah suggested Lloyd Center
  11. Spring Sale.
    1. NEED A SPRING SALES DIRECTOR; try soliciting from last year’s vendors
    2. discussed dropping out of GOTG if no one steps up for sales director
    3. Spring Sale may be at inflection point.  Getting expensive for some older vendors and new vendors. Works for production weavers
    4. Judilee thinks the Fall Sale is  friendlier audience
    5. Maybe do larger guild booth with small fee on per item basis
  12. New Member Tea
    1. Sarah can host but parking is bad
    2. Possibly late september
  13. Monthly Survey
    1. Dan suggested doing a quick one question survey on a monthly basis.
