- Approval of Workshop Policy and Workshop Chair Description
- Given that PHG members have priority over WEGO guild members and non-members in enrollment, how do we check for WEGO membership?
- The workshop chair is not worried, because signups don’t go public until the workshop chair needs more participation and our guild isn’t signing up.
- New Workshop Policy and Workshop Chair job description approved unanimously.
- WEGO (Sue Walsh)
- The WEGO Education Chair reported that they are restarting the workshops that PHG member Peg Silloway was going to teach – April 23-May 22 or Sept 10-Oct 9, all in 2022. Original guilds, of which PHG was one will get first refusal. Three guilds need to sign on for it to be a go. The workshop chair will work directly with Marlene Lloyd.
- Disaster Relief: the best approach is transition to an all-cash disaster relief fund. WEGO would become a 503c and establish a fund, making contributions tax-deductible. The Eugene Guild suggested they’ll contribute $500. Some amount should go into PHG’s budget for this.
- PHG Contribution – it was suggested that we review how much we have not spent this year on facilities rental and what we plan to spend on next year’s facility rental before deciding how much to budget.
- If there isn’t a disaster involving loss of WEGO members’ studios in the near future, WEGO will cross that bridge when they come to it.
- Now that there is so much Zoom activity, WEGO has created a Zoom Coordinator position; Zoom has saved WEGO a lot of money – no mileage for 16 guild representatives. There are studio tours on Zoom. Eugene Guild has 12 study groups on Zoom. On the other hand one guild has stopped meeting altogether because they’ve got Zoom all week and don’t want more.
- Going forward, the PHG mileage cost will be half of what it had been before; WEGO is planning to have the Spring 2022 meeting in person in Brookings. The Oct 2021 meeting will be via Zoom.
- Our WEGO grant – this year, spend the 2020 grant however. In 2021, the intent is to use it as a scholarship grant. We won’t get the grant money until we invoice for it. The intent is to have member guilds hold a workshop for members or send a member to a workshop and they share what they’ve learned to their guild, in other words, something that benefits the guild and education of the guild members. The Education Director will research the WEGO grant policy and maybe use it to get a speaker for a guild program or event.
- All WEGO individuals currently in roles are remaining in their roles.
- Oregon Flock and Fiber is planned to be at the Linn County Fairgrounds in October, health situation depending.
- On the conference side – switching 2021 conference to 2023; all rolling over. More instructors are more comfortable with Zoom and don’t want to travel. Some conferences have gone all virtual. What will the 2023 conference look like? The hybrid model is something we need to consider.
- Deepest gratitude was expressed to our guild for opening our programs to WEGO guild members, especially from the smaller, more rural guilds. A woman in Roseburg sent us a check in thanks.
- Transitioning into Outreach
- It was asked if opening our meetings is considered outreach.
- Going forward we plan to record all meetings, possibly have them simultaneously live and on Zoom. It could probably be done with the guild’s laptop and a webcam.
- We can get better programs this way as well.
- June Meeting (Janis Johnson)
- Janis plans a panel discussion on the Mannequins
- We elect the President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
- We discuss and pass the budget.
- Any strawberry shortcake consumption will be virtual.
- Sarah McCully-Posner (incoming Guild president for 2021-2022) introduced herself.
- Jessica Bardsley (incoming Guild Membership Director for 2021-2022) introduced herself.
- Meeting adjourned at 8:14pm
