Old Business

  1. WEGO
  • Grant Update: Screening of Interlacements on Wednesday November 9.  Not available via Zoom.  Sue will prepare the report, submit it to WEGO, and PHG will be reimbursed.  Contract with Marilyn done.
  • WEGO is starting the next cycle of WEGO sponsored workshops.  The WEGO Education Chair is looking for ideas; requested Lynne’s workshop topics survey results. (Done)
  • Traveling Show: 40 entries are needed for the WEGO Traveling Show.  The accepted items are out for a year.  The theme is “Filaments”.  Pieces due November/December 2022.
  • WEGO Elections held.  President: Donna Wilson, Secretary Cassandra Dinaro, State Fair Coordinator Dorald ???, Communications Kelly ???
  • Sue will be submitting a reimbursement request for the WEGO meeting attendance.
  • WEGO dues come due in 2 months.
  1. ANWG
    • ANWG dues need to be paid in full for PHG members to get the discounted ANWG Conference rate.  Dan will provide Mike the link at which to pay the dues.  Dan will also get member count to Mike, because dues are based on member count.
  2. HGA
    • HGA dues are due next month (November).  In the past, Sue has paid for 2 years and receives reimbursement from PHG.  Mike noted that we DO have a debit card.  Or Sue could just pay again for 2 years and PHG would reimburse her.
  3. Weftover Sale Update
    • Total sales $2398, expenses $393, income $2004
    • Everything not sold is all now stored above the door in the closet.
    • There will be another weftover sale at the Fall Sale; maybe will drop the price to $3/lb.  The sale will also be open to members to donate fiber from their stashes.  If the member stuff is nicer, won’t be dropping the price.
  4. WIFI in the gym!
    • Website or friends (how found out about the guild)
    • Next month, how many looms
  5. New Home for PHG – Update
    • Jackie mentioned that there is someone around Multnomah Village that has commercial space.  We still want to speak with someone at Lloyd Center.
    • We do want to share this with the membership, as we’ll need volunteers to look at and vet some spaces once we get to that stage.
  6. Donation Coordinator
    • Robin suggested we have one, as We tend to get a lot of questions and people approaching us about making donations – stash, estates, general downsizing.  Manage inquiries, plus managing them, plus 501c3 requires acknowledgement of the donations.
    • Linda – usually under an officer or the treasurer.  501c3 needs a lot more follow through.
    • Other groups call it the “Development Director”
    • Robin – oldest baby boomers should be what, 76?  Not being able to get under their looms.  Last year’s theme, stash management, estate planning.
    • Dan – do we want to make it a Board position?  Linda asked to come up with a rough outline of a job description.  Look at perhaps amending the bylaws.  And then find someone.  Linda – for the IRS, “Development Officer” is a great title/wording.
    • Dan – might want a grant if we move into our own space.
    • Robin – probably someone(s) under them – online sales of books, valuing looms and spinning wheels, donation guidelines (no boxes of back issues of Threads!)
  7. The Button Situation – Hillary took the button maker home.  Robin – found another box labeled “nametags and buttons”.  Robin suggested she pair up with Sarah.  Send out an email to see who has their buttons at home.
  8. Director Reports (Time permitting)
    • Program – does the movie have closed captioning options? Linda will follow up.
      1. Movie – social time 1:30.  Movie 2:00 No Show and Tell. Movie is 1:30 long
      2. December – crafty meeting, stringing nametags, could someone do Kumihimo on a disk? Distributing pattern for Noh Coats for the mannequins, need $ to print patterns and for the star craft.
      3. Program Calendar is full now.
  1. Workshops – Krokbragd open, registering;
  1. Confirm next meeting – Dec 1 or 15?
    • Sue proposes skip both meetings, conduct any necessary business via email.
    • Next meeting in January
  2. Adjourn
    • Meeting adjourned 7:46pm
