PHG Meeting Info

NOTICE: Meetings will be held both in-person and on Zoom until further notice. Zoom links are provided in the PHG Calendar where Zoom participation is available.

PHG meets on the second Thursday of every month during September - June at the Multnomah Art Center.

Morning Meetings 10am - noon, 9:30am social
Evening Meetings 7pm - 9pm, 6:30 social

Meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings generally follow the same agenda:

  2. Attendance
    •  Dan Steves, Lynne Fitzsimmons, Sharon Carsten, Nora Gessert, Tim Prins, Robin Korybski
  3. Determination of Quorum
    • Quorum present – 5 directors, 1 acting director
  4. Approval of October 2023 Minutes
    • Approved with change of Nora Fairley to Nora Gessert
    • Motion, Second, 5 yes 1 abstain (didn’t read)
  5. Old Business/Updates
    • Spring Sale Update
      1. Allotted 26 booths; have commitments for all but 1 10×10 and 1 10×15
      2. Walkthrough done on Thursday.  Our overall location may be shifted because Beads haven’t sold any booths.
        1. Maybe we can pick up some booths from Beads
      3. Jurying
        1. Only 1 submission for the Guild booth, beadwork
      4. Hasn’t really reached out to the other weaving guilds for the affiliate booths
  6. New Business/Discussions
    • Scholarships
      1. One application received from a new member.  We have $150 in the budget for scholarships.
        1. No requirements for guild membership tenure
        2. No requirements for what comes back to the guild
        3. Discussion of guild funds and reserve
      2. Motion to give the full $350 scholarship, seconded
        1. Passed, 5 yes, 1 abstention
        2. With the understanding that we’ll get a presentation afterward
        3. She’s going to Marshfield in March, perhaps the presentation could be at the June meeting, because no presenter is scheduled
    • Mentoring
      1. Tabled until next month because we only have 6 at this meeting

    • Proposed 21 February, so as not to conflict with the Guild Retreat
