Band Weaving Study Group Minutes

February 13, 2024

Our Inaugural Meeting!

Attendees:

  • Cindy Hutchison
  • Constance Wiseman
  • Kay Inglin
  • Margaret Jeppesen
  • Dan Steves
  • Bill Tompkins
  • Judy Head
  • Lynne Fitzsimmons
  • Sue Walsh

The Affinity

Given that 99% of us had never been in a study group before, we wrote down all our expectations of what we wanted this group to do/be on post-it notes and affinitized them (“the data organizes itself”)

Structure

We arrived at a general structure for our meetings:

  • Show and Tell (because Projects!)
  • Presentation/Educational/Theme
  • Mutual Aid on questions/projects.

Some initial presentation/educational/theme suggestions:

  • Presentation/demonstration on inkle or tablet weaving on multiple loom types
  • Presentation/demonstration with pattern heddle and backstrap
  • Tablet weaving draft convention exploration and discovery, because there are So Many Of Them
  • What is in our personal band weaving libraries?

For the Next Meeting

  • Do a inkle-type band weaving project and bring it in
  • Bring in our band weaving libraries
  • Kay Inglin will demonstrate inkle weaving on more than one type of loom2

Next Meeting Dates

  • Saturday March 23, 11-1, in the Ruthie’s classroom
  • Tuesday April 23, 1-3 in the Ruthie’s classroom
