NOTICE: Meetings will be held both in-person and on Zoom until further notice. Zoom links are provided in the PHG Calendar where Zoom participation is available.

PHG meets on the second Thursday of every month during September - June at the Multnomah Art Center.

Morning Meetings 10am - noon, 9:30am social
Evening Meetings 7pm - 9pm, 6:30 social

Meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings generally follow the same agenda:

August 29, 2024

  1. Attendance: Pat Zimmerman, Lynne Fitzsimmons, Mike Schlieski, Tim Prins,  Dan Steves, Linda Edquist,  Robin Korybski, Sharon Carsten, Amber Pham, Nora Gessert
  2. The minutes from the May 2024 board meeting were approved.
  3. A refund was received for the Spring Sale, $277.  The Guild came out ahead.
  4. Newsletter
    1. No fall sale or weftover sale announcement provided
    2. Tim will reach out to Judilee
  5. Need to recruit a committee for the ANWG booth for the Summer of 2025. ANWG theme – weaving webs.  June 16-21,in Yakima.
  6. Membership needs to remind people to review.  We have 207 active members.
  7. Gathering of the Guilds
    1. Glass guild has dropped out, making more spaces available.  The basketmakers guild and printmakers guilds have been invited
    2. Some businesses might sell at GOTG
    3. The gallery is very expensive to run, might not have it this time
      1. Glass guild is parting out the gallery pedestals
  8. Library and Closet
    1. The second new library cart will be delivered shortly.  It is being built by Jacque DeBell and her husband John.
    2. John is also fixing the shelf over the door.
  9. Upcoming Guild Meetings
    1. Nora can’t be at the September meeting.  Dan and Tim will fill in.
    2. AV training is needed for the October meeting – a group training will be scheduled very soon.
    3. Logistics – maybe move the Show and Tell to the end.
    4. October – speaker will present via Zoom in the morning; we need to be able to play back the recording at the evening meeting.
    5. There are guild programs scheduled for all months except November and May.
  10. SCORE Board Retreat
    1. Among other things, talk about getting grants and such
  11. Weftover Sale
    1. Lead is Kay Inglin, our Donations Coordinator.  Her responsibilities (or, the responsibilities of the job) have not been spelled out.
    2. Need to keep volunteers from squirreling away items to attempt to purchase it at a discount later.  
    3. Need a request for volunteers in the Newsletter, as well as solicitations for items to sell.
    4. Pat Z will write up a “no squirreling” for the volunteers
  12. Revising the Website
    1. Time for a refresh
    2. The membership will be surveyed for what they’d like to see and what doesn’t work.
    3. New theme

    5. Volunteer page is empty

    1. Possibly a GOTG scholarship opportunity
    2. Sponsors – web page, newsletter, fall sale, December meeting
    3. Direct mail to members from select sponsors – would members get grumpy?  Is there a privacy policy in place?
    4. Grants – what do we need the money for?
    5. Fundraising outreach – perhaps the Oregon Cultural Trust?
    6. Other groups – something with Ruthie’s?  Other guilds?
    7. Why are we trying to raise money?
