Only one person is available for the June meeting so it is cancelled. We decided to take the summer off, so there will be no meetings in July or August. In addition because of conflicts, we will have no meeting in October or March of 2025 (Retreat Weekend).
For the PHG end of year meeting, we will announce for 2024/2025 that our theme would mirror the theme of the Association of Northwest Weaver’s Guild conference “Weaving Webs”. https://anwgconference.org/
There was a discussion on weaving hats. Last month, a woven hat was shared. In the past month one member had a learning experience trying to duplicate it. Details about how to make it without sewing (using only knots) was shared and a newer hat made with that technique was shown.
There was also a discussion on how to do indirect warping of a rigid heddle (using a warping board) when space was not available for direct warping. This lead to a discussion on whether it was possible to do a clasped warp setup using a warping board. Experiment results will be reported next meeting.
It was pointed out that PHG has a number of rigid heddle looms available to rent or borrow. The larger width RH loom is heavy to use so it is seldomly checked out.
For the next meeting, we will all try to bring something to show that we have never done before.
