Minutes of Portland Handweavers Guild Small Looms Study Group
26 April 2025
We all had a chance to weaver on a 60cm Clover Loom. Both a 40cm and a 60cm were brought to the meeting. We used the built in warping board to warp and then started weaving a band on the 40cm loom. These looms are comparable to a rigid heddle loom but the mechanism does not require threading through a heddle so setup is much faster. In addition to change the shed the mechanism is rolled forward or backward. This eliminates raising the heddle so it is less work.

To see the loom on Amazon, go to Arts, Crafts & Sewing -> Crafting -> Weaving & Spinning -> Weaving Looms and/or search for “(Clover) 57-950 Loom, 40cm, Natural”.
https://www.rochestertextile.com/ also apparently carries them but is currently out of stock so they do not appear to be present on the website. New stock is expected in the next few weeks.
There is an alternative provider of equivalent looms from Italy. The link was in the last minutes.
A member, Karen Sesnon, is associated with a weaving group that meets on the west side. Below is her description.
Weaving in Community is a monthly gathering where we weave, exchange tips and ideas, and build community with one another and by visiting locations in our neighborhood. Bring a project and come for all or part of our group time!
The May meeting of Weaving in Community will be held at the Tigard Public Library (13500 SW Hall Blvd, Tigard, OR 97223), on Wednesday, May 14th, from 10am to 1 pm. We will meet in the Technology room 2nd floor. The room is large, well lit, has tables and chairs and two higher tables perfect for warping. Please email to let me know you are coming!
