Small Loom Study Group mtg notes Jan 2025

Meeting Notes:

There was an announcement about the Portland Handweavers Guild display booth at the ANWG conference. This is a 10×10 booth with 3 walls that the guild uses to highlight pieces. The theme is Portland Landmarks. This includes building, trees, bridges, tiny homes, or anything else that is specific to Portland. Examples might include: clasped weft cityscape, items with embroidery added, band loom items with brocade, 3d (maybe felted) items or pin loom items. Size of the finished item is flexible and all items will be returned to the creator. Items will be collected in May for the show in June 16 to 21st in Yakima WA.

Next month Dan volunteered to show/demonstrate double heddle Krokbragd. Thank you Dan. Also next month we are going to do some hands on rigid heddle direct warping. We can share Best Known Methods (BKM) and see how others do it.

If anyone has any small loom weaving areas where they feel skilled and would like to share, please let me know. I think it would be great we got some pre-planned learning scheduled. Two area requested are Woven Sheboi and the mechanics of tapestry weaving. If anyone feels they are qualified to train in those two areas, please let me know.
