Workshop: Rug Weaving Basics with Mary Zicafoose (in 2027)

What makes a woven rug functional, timeless, and beautiful? Fueled by many years as a rug weaver, Mary Zicafoose teaches the fundamentals of building the well-constructed rug. The workshop focuses on warp selection, sett, warp calculations and measurement, dressing the rug loom, rug weaving tension, tips for impeccable selvedges, and handling techniques to create a smooth, firm handwoven surface. Dates: March 12-14, 2026. 9am – 5pm

Location: MAC Gymnasium

Level: Open to shaft weavers of all levels. You must be able to warp your own loom.

MATERIALS FEE: $25 payable to the instructor during the workshop

WORKSHOP FEE: PHG determines workshop fees on a sliding scale based on the number of participants. Here is a sampling of estimated workshop fees by number of participants:

• 8 – $500
• 15 – $270

As a reminder that while the total cost varies by number of registrations. We have 15 spots available. If we receive more than the minimum registrants, as is typical, and your deposit is higher than the final workshop fee, we will refund you the difference. Conversely, if the workshop fee is higher than the deposit, we will invoice you for the difference.
