Ruth Dabritz Legacy Project – Weaving 102: The Next Project – September 2026

Welcome to Real Weaving, where you have to find your own yarn 🙂

In this class you will learn:

  • Some twill theory
  • How to make a warp color order chart
  • Warping with 2 bouts; how to split the warp count into two
  • Discussion of symmetric vs asymmetric warps
  • How to wind a multiple color warp (cut and tie) – Warping itself is unchanged except for the color changes
  • Don’t need a counting string, really – the color changes keep your count.
  • Threading a multiple twill pattern
  • How to follow a commercial project
  • How to read ALL the instructions

  • Textbook (required): Next Steps in Weaving, by Pattie Graver. Project: Scarf of Lucky Colors, Pg 35

  • 1 dark, 660 yards to be used as both warp and weft

Preparation

If the yarn is skeined, please have it wound into balls before class.  Let us know if you need help with that.  Also, please bring a bowl, bag, box or something else to keep the yarn from escaping when winding the warp.
