The Ruth Dabritz Legacy Weaving Project

Ruth Dabritz provided initial funding for the Ruth Dabritz Legacy Weaving Project to provide short, intensive classes on weaving on a four-shaft floor loom. The project is a charitable nonprofit run by volunteers. Their 3-day workshop covers the basics of floor loom weaving, from planning a project through directions for wet-finishing.

Jane Stafford Online Guild – Learn to Weave Online

“The Online Guild launched in January 2017 as a response to weavers wanting to come to Salt Spring Island to study in our studio. Our wait lists were getting longer and longer each year, so Jane decided to try a different approach. This was to take the beginners workshop she offered, flesh it out with more wonderful content and offer it by way of streaming on the great inter web. The immediate response spurred her on. She decided to take every one of her workshops, expand them in greater detail and now we have over 30 videos available online.”

Tien Chiu – Warp & Weave: Color Courage for weavers

“I’ve spent my adult life studying color theory, then applying that knowledge in an artistic context. Whether it was passed down from my parents, who were both scientists, or derived from majoring in math at Caltech – understanding the science behind weaving with color was literally in my blood!

I have coached hundreds of fiber artists how to apply color theory to everyday weaving problems and weave stunning projects they are proud of. Let me help you do the same!”
