As weavers, spinners, dyers prepare for the 2023 conference of the Association of Northwest Weaver’s Guilds (ANWG) [https://anwgconference2023.com/], there is a challenge focusing on the Bonnie Cashin design, the Noh Coat. The Weavers Guilds of Oregon (WEGO), of which Portland Handweavers Guild (PHG) is a member, is serving as the host for the conference in Bend OR in June 2023. That said, PHG would like to highlight the Noh Coat by members creating their own coat with their original design and using the mannequins to display a miniature coat design that can be displayed in the PHG booth.
For those interested in creating a Noh coat for one of the mannequins, Education will be providing a pattern and instructions at the December meeting. For this purpose, the woven piece needs to be at least 18-inch width x 36-inch length. There is additional information on the ANWG website as well.
If you have any questions, please contact me at Education@audrey-mooreportlandhandweaversguild-org.
I look forward to seeing the results our members will produce!
