Cassandra Lee

The great blue heron is the official bird of Portland, Oregon. It’s often seen in lakes, rivers, and wetlands within the city. One of the main heron rookeries in the area is the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, where interesting hiking trails take you around a large body of water.

Cassandra makes the characters gracing her pillows from animals she has known and loved, or who have lived wildly in her “neighborhood”. She does a fair amount of drawing, and drafts patterns from those drawings. She hunts fabric! She began repurposing fabrics but the demand got beyond her ability to forage enough fabrics. She still hunts, but also purchases a lot of end-of-bolt fabrics. Cassandra loves color and texture, and saves all sizes of scraps to use in smaller projects.
