Long-time weaver and teacher Ruth Dabritz was concerned about the shortage of opportunities in the Portland metropolitan area for people who wanted to learn to weave on a floor loom. In 2019 Ruth provided initial funding for the Ruth Dabritz Legacy Weaving Project to provide short, intensive classes on weaving on a four-shaft floor loom. Now a part of the Portland Handweavers Guild, the project and classes are run by volunteers.
