2023 Annual Meeting Minutes

Agenda
Portland Handweavers Guild Board Meeting
7 PM, June 8, 2023
Online Zoom Meeting

June 8, 2023

Meeting commenced at 7:06pm

  1. Welcome (Dan Steves)
  2. Attendance
    • 47 members attended
  3. Approval of 2023-2024 Budget
    • Discussion:
      1. Annual inclusive expenditure to the Multnomah Arts Center was about $5000.
      2. The Guild should start tracking volunteer hours; better for grants and such to show member/volunteer participation
    • Vote: The 2023-2024 Budget was approved unanimously.
  4. Election of Officers
    • Dan Steves, President
    • Michael Schlieski, Treasurer
    • Lynne Fitzsimmons, Secretary
    • Vote: The slate of officers was approved/elected
  5. Discussion on whether the Guild should lease a larger space with greater access
    • The MAC rentals (closet, meetings, workshops) are about $5k/year
    • The Guild is bumped if some MAC program wants a space we have already reserved
    • Least expensive currently available spaces are $15/sf.  The guild simply does not have that kind of money.
    • The guild has difficulty rounding up participation from members for many activities now.  How would a new space change that?
    • The current situation allows the guild to try things with very little risk.
    • The guild needs a vision for the future.
  6. Strawberry Shortcake!
  7. Close
    • Meeting adjourned 9:00pm
